5 Ways to Grow Your Side Hustle.jpg

You have your side gig—excellent! But how do you grow your earnings to maximize your potential? Check out these ideas for growing your side gig!

1.      Network. For many of us, marketing ourselves is the hardest part of a side hustle. You know you are awesome and talented and great at your side hustle gig, but you also have to convince other people that this is true. A lot of this can be accomplished through networking. However, when you network, put your focus on building authentic, meaningful relationships with people. No one wants to feel used and if someone feels like you are using them as a stepping stone, they are not going to be inclined to help you. But when you build authentic relationships, networking can be a completely invaluable aspect of your side hustle. Proper networking can lead to better connections, more work, and—best of all—more money in your pocket.

2.      Utilize your creativity. Lean into your skill set! Get creative with the ways you promote your side hustle, render your services, and build your business. Think about the resources at your disposal and consider new and innovative ways to make them work for you.

3.      Never take on side hustle debt. When you are starting a new business, sometimes you have to spend a little money to make money. Some of those expenses are necessary, but each time you think you need to make a purchase, ask yourself if it is absolutely essential or if it is something you can wait to purchase later when you have generated more cash. The purpose of a side hustle is to make more money, not make more debt!

4.      Dream big but focus small. Effective planning requires big picture dreams, but do not get so lost in your daydreams about what you will do with all the extra income you are going to earn that you forget to actually, you know, earn the money! Aim big, but stay grounded and practical.

5.      Put your plans into action. Nike said it best: just do it! If you are one of those people who loves lists and charts and planning, you know how easy it can be to get lost in the planning stages and fail to reach the execution stage. Make sure you are actually doing the thing, not just planning for it.
